London, Singapore and New York named world’s best city brands in new Resonance report.
The ‘Capital of Capitals’ is the world’s best city brand! London ranked first in the Resonance Consultancy 2017 World’s Best City Brands Report, released during a breakfast briefing at World Travel Market in London on November 8.
The 2017 World’s Best City Brands Report by Resonance evaluates global principal cities with a metropolitan population of 2 million or more, and capital cities with a population of 1 million or more. The Top 100 cities in the world are ranked in the report. Principal cities are defined as the largest city in each urban area. For each city, the Resonance ranking considers both statistical performance and qualitative evaluations by locals and visitors on social media via the comments, images and reviews they share. Resonance grouped 20 areas of evaluation into the six core categories of Place, Product, Programming, People, Prosperity and Promotion.
Sparked by the 2012 Summer Games and a coordinated effort to harness the global obsession about the city since, top-ranked London also ranks first overall globally in the categories of Product, Programming, and Promotion. London, right now, is a tight, highly curated Venn diagram of multi-ethnic revelry, enviable luxury retail, coveted universities and colleges (more than 40 institutions of higher education are based in the city), and the restaurants to sate the palates of curious global wanderers.
Rounding out the top five world’s best city brands in the 2017 World’s Best City Brands Report are Singapore, New York, Paris and Sydney, respectively.
