Richmond Region Tourism wanted to build a more livable, lovable and prosperous region that would balance quality of life for locals and excitement and fresh experience for visitors. Our Tourism Master Plan created recommendations for the development of both cultural and adventure tourism.
Resonance’s work for Richmond was designed to create a plan for a contemporary traveler—a sophisticated explorer who was interested in the city’s multi-layered history, and an adventurer who might want to run the rapids of the extraordinary James River on the doorstep of downtown. We recommended advocating for the implementation of the 10-year Park Master Plan and the Regional Rivers Plan; prioritizing diversity and inclusivity in tourism development and promotion; and supporting Placemaking techniques to enhance the regional experience, particularly in downtown Richmond. Today, in light of the nation’s reckoning with racism, these seem particularly relevant.
